Editor's Note: One of our dear friends sent an e-mail this week asking about the color of Adam and Eve's skin. The following is what Lenny got for her during his time of meditation last night.
You were asking what color skin Adam and Eve had when they were created. What you are asking is, what color their flesh was, and was it like yours, but the flesh is not you. The flesh is only a house that God placed you in, your physical dwelling. That is not the real you. You were made in the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:26). In the first Chapter of Gen., it says so clearly. "God is Spirit," Jesus said to the woman at the well, and He that worships God must "worship Him in Spirit and in Truth" (Jn. 4:24). So you were originally created a spirit in the image and likeness of God. In the second chapter of Genesis, the last line of the fifth verse says, "There was no man to till the soil." God is letting us know there that we were created spirits in the image and likeness of God and He's telling us He had not yet made man from the dust of the ground (Gen. 2:7). Then, in the 7th verse of Chapter Two, we read that He made Adam. Adam is your physical frame. That Adamic nature is the natural or physical nature of man. It is not your spirit. It is body and soul, but it is not spirit and you are spirit.
Adam is only the clay dwelling that you are housed in. Skin color is just the coat of paint on the outside of the house. It is not the real you. Our experience in the natural here is the same as a child being formed in the nine month period in the womb. We are in God's womb right now, being formed in His image and likeness (Rom. 8:29). Some of us are even in the birth canal, being pressed forward into God (Gal. 4:19). Natural death could be our birth canal experience or death to self in our lives could be the birth canal experience, but we are clearly being formed in God's womb right now, this very moment, in whatever way our Father has ordained.
