Lenny's Meditations, May 12, 2001
I see clearly that this body we're living in is the house mentioned in II Cor. 5:1, and Paul said about it, "Don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God?" (I Cor. 6:19; II Cor. 6:16). This body that we're living in is the temple of God! We are living together with God in this temple because God says that we are IN Him and OF Him (Eph. 4:6). So Lord, I'm saying right now for you to fix this house; repair it; remodel it, whatever you have to do to it so it can function properly. It's all by thy grace, Father. Repair the roof Father, so we can think clearly upon you, so that the world and it's habits do not leak in. Clean the windows, or replace the windows, Father, so that we can see clearly through them. We want to see you clearly, Father. We want to hear you clearly; we want to understand you clearly; we want to have an intimate relationship with you. We want to know you clearly, Father. Do a real remodeling job, Father, so that this house can function properly before you. I know this house is getting older and older, but there is no reason to condemn the building. Just remodel it, Father. It's not that this house is something strange to you, Father. You built it. You made the whole house. You know everything that you have put into it, and you know how to fix it. You did everything, from drawing the blueprints, to putting it all together. To you, there's nothing strange or unknown about it whatsoever. You know everything that's in it and you know exactly how to repair it. The plumbing leaks, Father; the electrical system has shorts in it occasionally, and the roof is coming off. It does need a new paint job, Father. All these things are in your hands.
We want this to be a warm and comfortable place where people can come and visit you, Father. Since you are the one who designed it and built it, you are the only one capable of repairing it or remodeling it, whatever has to be done. You know it's very hard to concentrate when the house creaks so much. You are our master builder, Father. It is all in your hands, to do what you want to do. Since it's an old house, we have fuses, instead of circuit breakers, and they need to be changed once in a while, Father. No matter how run down it is, it is still your temple, Father, where your glory dwells. In this place, do we experience your glory and your majesty and your honor and your power. You flow forth, from out of your temple, Father. This is where the glory of God dwells through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Because the glory of our God lives in this temple, this house has been changed, from the house of corruption, into the house of incorruption, from the house of mortality into a house of immortality, and only you can do this, Father. A couple of statements from Job come to mind. "I had heard of thee by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees thee" (Job 42:5); and he also said, "In this house (flesh), I shall see God" (Job. 19:26), for in this earthly house, we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven, "not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life" (II Cor. 5:2,4).
