Mistletoe and holly, children playing in the snow.
Friends and relatives calling, sending greetings to all we know.
Too many people on our list; too many gifts to buy;
too many tasks obsess us. It feels like "do or die."
Jesus' birth date eludes us. When was it anyway?
Who picked December twenty fifth? What does God have to say?
What does it matter the day He was born? The manger is in my heart.
When the Christ child first appeared there, He gave me a brand new start.
That was the day when the LIGHT shone in
and the LOVE of God flowed out;
the day the mornign stars and the sons of God
had something to shout about!
However you observe the day, or if you do it at all.
Know that God truly loves you and all people both great and small.
The King has prepared a celebration, and throughout the world He seeks
for honored guests at His banquet; all are invited, both Jews and Greeks.
He gifts freedom to all His children as we seek His grand abode.
His love is from everlasting. His grace on us He bestowed.
We sing hosannas to our King for whom all earth's families are named.
There are bells to ring, songs to sing; because eternal life we have gained.
Our prayer this holiday season, be it evening or in the morn
is for all to know by His Spirit, that "Unto us, a child is born."
Counselor, Comforter, Mighty King, bring us eternal release,
from fears and fighting and wars. Come, reign in our hearts, Prince of Peace.
